If you have researched natural laundry detergents, natural household cleaners, or even scrolled through social media, you might have heard about Branch Basics.  In short, Branch Basics was started by three women, Marliee and her two nieces Kelly, and Alison.  Years ago, Marliee’s son Douglas was exposed to harmful pesticides at age 10.  The doctors told her that her son experienced brain and immune damage that was irreparable.  After Marliee removed all harmful substances from Douglas’s diet and environment, Douglas recovered and was back to full health.  Kelly and Alison also had health issues and had life transformations after they too removed harmful toxics from their environment.

In 2017, I started my own journey about learning about healthier cleaning options.  It all started when my husband and I woke up itching like crazy! Think like ants in your pants, but all over your body.  Which was unusual because the day before I just did laundry.  I thought all of our clothes and bedding were clean.  Not to mention, I was also using the same laundry detergent for several months and never experienced anything like that before. After quickly researching, I came to the conclusion that it probably was the laundry detergent and I set to go out to buy a new brand that same day.  At the time I was currently using a bargain off brand detergent.  I switched to “All” which said on the bottle “free and clear” and had high hopes.  That day I washed every single article of clothing, bedding, and towels we owned.  And you know what happened the next morning…we woke up still itchy like crazy!

This was incredibly frustrating.  I couldn’t understand why.  I thought the words “free and clear” and “gentle on the skin” were good things to have in a laundry detergent.  So that same day I went to Whole Foods to look at their laundry detergent.  I thought a place like Whole Foods surely would have something that wouldn’t irritate our skin.   I bought ECOS laundry detergent and you know what happened the next morning…we woke up not itching! Praise the Lord!  I found something that worked.  While the brand did seem more natural and had a lot less ingredients than other typical laundry detergents I used, I wasn’t satisfied with my laundry routine because I felt my laundry wasn’t getting clean enough.

I continued to do research.  Then I found the website www.ewg.org.  The EWG, or the Environmental Working Group is a website where it gives detergent and household cleaning products a letter grader from A-F.  An “F” is the worst and an “A” is the best.  But even better than an “A” is the EWG certification, meaning it meets the EWG’s strictest standards.  You can search for almost any product in their database.  I searched in their database the bargain detergent I was using and it was rated an F.  When I tried the “All Free and Clear” that was rated a D.  It soon was apparent why we were itchy so much.

Since 2017, I have tried other laundry detergents and other less toxic stain removers such as Seventh Generation, Molly Suds, 365 Brand, Biokleen, Puracy, Laundry Club, and Earth Breeze just to name a few.  While some worked better than others, I wasn’t developing a good routine and some stains weren’t completely gone no matter how many times I washed it.  Then after continuing to do more research and hearing people talk about Branch Basics through social media and through online community groups, I decided to splurge for the Branch Basics.

The great thing about purchasing Branch Basics is that you can decide how much you want to buy. They have different kits available.  Although, the Premium Starter Kit is the best value, I wanted to start small to see if I liked it.  I first bought the Laundry Kit, the trial kit, and the natural scrub brush.  The laundry kit comes with the laundry bottle, the concentrate, and 2lbs of the oxygen boost.  The trial kit comes with the All-Purpose Spray Bottle, and a travel size of the concentrate.  Since my journey began in 2017 with laundry detergent, that is why I wanted to invest in the laundry detergent kit first.  I got the All-Purpose Spray because you literally use it for all purposes including removing laundry stains.  I got the natural scrub brushes because I have tried others in the past and I was looking for a sturdier option.

When I switched to using Branch Basics, I was truly amazed at how well it worked.  I have been using it for almost a year now and I can’t imagine my life with out it. It gets out stains that I wasn’t able to get out before.  I continue to use Branch Basics for my laundry, the All-Purpose to remove laundry stains and to clean just about everything in my house.   More recently I started using their foaming soap dispensers and am loving that too!  Branch Basics is also one of the most natural laundry and household cleaners on the market.  It is a product I feel good about using because it is more natural and not toxic like other things I have used in the past.

I will be honest.  I was not hyped about spending so much to invest in Branch Basics.  As a person who likes to save money, Branch Basics seemed so expensive at the time when I first bought it.  Now after using it for almost a year, I can’t image my life without it!
